Formulating an Evaluation Form

You may want to check out http://www.ceismc.gatech.edu/MM_Tools/evaluation.html for more information. This website gives a list of at least ten evaluation tools where you can choose from. It also provides detailed explanations of each option.

But one thing that is very common and very easy to use when evaluating trainings and events is an evaluation form.

You can choose how you make and present your own evaluation form. But you have to remember a lot of things.

First, evaluation forms should not only contain questions answerable by yes or no or the usual rating type questions that require each participant to evaluate a certain aspect of the training in numerical ratings. However, these formats are still very good as they will require lesser time for those who will answer the evaluation. They are also advantageous as the results are quantifiable.

But you can also include in your evaluation form open-ended questions. Doing so will guarantee you that you have been getting more precise answers and that those who do the evaluation are not just fooling around and selecting at random what to answer.

You can make evaluation forms designed separately for the participants and for you, the training organizer or speaker. In that way, evaluation can be a two-way process.

Make sure your questions are specific and hitting the point. Too generalized questions will not achieve accurate answers because they are too ambiguous or too big.
