Nature of Sports Specific Training

“Sports specific training” is a training wherein an athlete performs exercises that replicate the movements necessary when playing specific sports. For example, baseball players need to train to improve their throwing, batting, catching and running abilities. Sometimes, a player may be good in catching the ball but runs slowly; thus, with sports specific training, athletes can identify their areas for improvement and their coach will make sure they train more on that area. For an exercise to be defined as a sports specific training, it must exactly duplicate the movement required in certain parts of the sports skill. However, many individuals attest that the secret to performing well in sports is to actually play the game itself constantly.
